Batman VR is a very well made simulation with strong graphics, captivating story and a mind-blowing ending (no spoilers!) - pretty much everything a solid VR experience needs!
As part of the main plot, Batman (you) is set to investigate a murder of his colleague. The obscure nature of the crime brings you on a journey through various locations, gathering hints and interrogating suspects. The story is extremely captivating and just when you think you've gathered all the pieces of the puzzle - you quickly realized you haven't.
From the suit-up sequence to exploring the Batman's cave garage, the gameplay continuously surprises with interesting elements. The addition of various Batman gadgets allowed the player to explore Gotham and its crime scenes with the use of VR controllers. Even though, due to the lack of combat, the gameplay is very detective-like, the full immersion and numerous interactive pieces really make up for it!
Now, this is where the game really shines! Built in Unreal Engine 4 with a core VR experience in mind, Batman VR looks as good as any modern desktop game. Due to the dark and foggy ambiance of the game, the usual VR issues such as SDE (Screen Door Effect) or pixelation are hardly noticeable. Every object is beautifully done and sharp, even when looking up close.
Batman Arkham VR is the one game I truly recommend to first time VR gamers. It's beautifully crafted, with captivating story and immersive gameplay. The game has virtually no motion sickness sequences or elements and is simply too tempting not to try - I mean.. who doesn't want to become Batman for a day!
