LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit

Teaching girls to code by building & programing R2D2!

CHECK IT OUT

Ugh...I know you're officially "old" when you say this, but if I had this when I was a kid... I would have been over the moon in under 14 parsecs!

I had such an obsession with robots that I used to take my toy bots apart and put them back together again, and play "Robot Repair Shop"... of course R2 was my first Droid, so combined this is the absolute coolest edutainment toy I can think of...

I love everything about this initiative... if you need any more convincing that they're specifically working to empower girls just check out this gorgeous cinematic trailer...

Wait, did I just see R5D4 in there as well??!

"When littleBits joined forces with the Disney Accelerator program last year the teams' mutual goal was to encourage more girls to experiment with STEM/STEAM (science, tech, engineering and math) without making a product that was gendered. Star Wars—thanks to Princess Leia, a strong female lead and a tech-savvy human—was the perfect fit."-source

I love any product that encourages girls to get into maths and sciences. It's not too late for me to learn how to code with this little R2 unit is it? Id have a go in a heartbeat.. oh and once he's assembled there are 22 mission challenges you'll need to use your coding knowlege to complete... and you can can decorate it with stickers STICKERS!!! <3 I'm in love.
