The Mö From Evovelo

I’d like to introduce you to the mö from Spanish company, Evovelo. It’s an enclosed velomobile (think pedal-car) with solar power assist and a long list of features that make it a pretty good substitute for a car in urban areas.

After an extensive period of beta-testing in 16 different countries, they’ve begun taking pre-orders from around the world. For 300€, you can reserve one of the first models (and pay the remaining cost of up to 5000€ over when production begins). Plus with open source plans being made available soon, you’ll just need a few easily accessible tools and materials to build one yourself.

Pros:
-Enclosed for better weather proofing
-Solar assist for uphill or lengthy commutes
-Sized well for visibility on the road
-Eco-friendly (zero emissions)
-Easy to maintain
-Tandem passenger seat for ease of conversation
-Legally a tricycle in most countries (no license or insurance needed)

Cons:
-10 month waiting period for delivery
-Open source plans not yet available
-A bit pricey

As a fan of innovative car alternatives, I’m already impressed but the real test will come when these become more widely available. Similar vehicles like Organic Transit's ELF have left the automotive industry relatively unscathed but you never know. This might be the one. Thoughts?
