As an amateur radio operator (callsign W3DTV) I am not required by current FCC rules to know Morse code. However, it is useful to know in emergencies and for sending weak signals.
For people who don't want to learn Morse code but for whatever reason want to generate a short message in Morse code or need to translate a Morse code message into text this app works well.
This app also has a training feature to practice Morse code. I wouldn't recommend this app for beginners to learn Morse code though.
