The PE6502 kit manufactured by Putnam Electronics uses a modern 8-bit 65C02 microprocessor and is compatible with all original Apple I computer programs. The kit also comes with a 29 page assembly manual. Neither the official site or the assembly manual makes it clear what the intellectual property status of this hardware is other than the Parallax Propeller microcontroller the PE6502 uses is licensed under a GNU public license. Since it's not clear users may or may not need permission to make their own modifications.
