Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45

Swiss luxury smartwatch powered by Android Wear

CHECK IT OUT

Tag Heuer is a well known name in Swiss watchmaking. Their traditional mechanical watches are really famous and the Monaco series was the watch Walter White wore in Breaking Bad. I am a fan of vintage Heuer's and like the monaco and autavia line of mechanical watches.

The company is also the first switch watchmaker to launch a smart watch (connected series) and the latest offering is the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45. 45 is because the diameter of the watch face is 45mm.

Leaning towards 'bulky', the watch is powered by Android Wear and comes with proprietary watch faces similar to its mechanical time pieces. You can get smart watch versions of chronographs and GMTs. The watch was desgined with the help of Intel, just like most other fashion watch brand smart watches (fossil, armani or michael kors).

The modular feature of the watch is great and allows the consumer to swap straps (rubber, leather and metal). The company also claims that 4000 watch face versions are available and one can customise the look by using a unique strap to suit your mood and personality. Besides the strap, one can also change the rotating bezel, and case lugs.

The watch comes with a scratch resistant sapphire crytal on the screen and body is also scratch resistant ceramic. The screen resolution is 400x400, 287 ppi, giving a super AMOLED display.

Pros -

  1. Cool watch faces
  2. Modular design
  3. Scratch resistant body and face

Cons -

  1. It costs £2,000!
