POV LED Wand

The POV LED Wand creates pictures from LEDs when waved around. It is a neat little open source project made from affordable parts and a few 3D printed components. If you was really on a budget you could probably make this without a 3D printer and use stuff from around the home, but its much cooler with the printed parts. Can be programmed easily by usb, just drag and drop to change the images for any occasion.

In this project we’ll show you how to build a POV LED wand. Adafruit DotStar’s deliver high speed PWM making them great for Persistence Of Vision. It’s powered by Adafruit’s Circuit Python, making it really easy to change and modify. The Adafruit Feather shows up as a USB drive so you can drag and drop the code. The handle and wand were designed to be 3D printed and houses all of the electronics.
