Turo Car-sharing App

Peer-to-Peer car-sharing marketplace alternative to rentals

CHECK IT OUT

If you're tired of renting from big rental agencies or hourly, and Uber and Lyft don't make sense for your mobility needs, then check out Turo, the peer-to-peer car-sharing app for their marketplace.

Features for renters

  • Over 850 car makes and models to choose from
  • Daily rental rates are reasonable
  • According to the car-listing requirements, it looks like you can't get a salvaged car.

I installed this app and looked for cars in Philadelphia and Florida and found matches right away.

How it works for car owners

  • Get paid directly within 5 days of the trip's end, via direct deposit
  • Let Turo automatically set your car's daily rental price or you can set the price manually yourself
  • Your typical earnings are 65% to 85% of the trip price
  • Insurance: you are protected with $1 million dollars of coverage ... Be sure to read the actual fine print on the website for current info!
  • You can easily list your car by filling out a short form and adding pics of your car and your license plate number. Note that it requires you not have a salvaged vehicle. Be sure to go to the website for the latest requirements.

My review:
I was surprised at how many nice-looking shiny cars there were, including the Porsche Boxter for $295 a day and the Tesla!

For the renter: Be sure to read the fine print to make sure you don't get charged extra fees etc.

Conclusion

If you find a good car and good car owner nearby and do your homework, then this could be a great alternative.

UX Critique:
Renter should be able to search by zip code. Currently, when you enter the zip code, it shows you address number matches in either a random area or the last area you searched.
