TerraPower

I'm not 100% sure this fits within Steemhunt's guidelines, but it is absolutely fascinating and I wanted to share it with you all.


By 2020 there should be a Traveling-wave Nuclear Reactor that is not only zero-emission, but actively uses already depleted uranium (a byproduct of current Nuclear Power plants that take thousands of years to break down) as it's fuel source, and can produce enough power output to power the entire world for 1000 years.


Obviously this reactor is a few years off, but a prototype is being built now... which is really exciting. An inexhaustible electricity supply will propel the world into an incredible era of innovation as a big technological issue (like with Bitcoin) is resolved.
