ACBC Modular Footwear Tech

This is not a shoe

CHECK IT OUT

I’ve been busy for the last couple of weeks with my exams but now I am back in full force, and today I want to bring you something that I find completely genius, the ACBC shoes. I am a dude that likes good clothes, and I know that a pair of shoes is what makes an outfit outstanding or, in most cases considering how kids dress these days, it can make an outfit awful.

Watch the clip, it's brilliant.

If you have a stable lifestyle, you can always wear your running shoes in the morning and rock your oxfords at night, all fine and dandy, but what if you’re traveling all day long? What if you’re always moving from one place to another and can’t carry with you three pairs of shoes? In that case, you need a few pairs of ACBC “shooz,” better said, you need a few soles and skins.

Features

Of course, you want to know, what makes these shoes so special that they are different from all the other ones on the market. Well, you see, most shoes are created with the idea in mind that you are going to store them in a closet, at home, but that makes it hard to travel with your whole shoe collection. But, here’s where ACBC steps in because thanks to their concept you can carry with you as many pairs of shoes as you want because they take 80% less space.

You can zip the skins to the soles, on and off whenever you want which makes it easy to store, and also because they are ultra light, it makes it super easy to carry when you’re traveling.

Most shoes have to be thrown out because the lower part of the shoe, the sole, gets destroyed and there’s no way to fix it, even if the upper part of the shoe, the skin is still in good shape. The beauty about these shoes is that when the sole gets worn out, you can always replace it with a new one and still use your old skins, thus rescuing a couple of pairs of shoes and saving up a lot of money.

Design

They are shoes; you’re going to wear them day in and day out so of course, the design is critical. But, contrary to what you might expect from some shoes designed to perform, to be practical, their design doesn’t let you down either. Of course, don’t expect these shoes to replace your business Oxford ones, they are not made to compete at that level but, they can replace your running sneakers, casual and business casual shoes easily.

The best part about them is that you can design your shoes to fit your personality, lifestyle, and needs. You can pick out of five soles and sixty skins, that’s 300 shoe combinations, enough room to play with the styles and designs and create your perfect shoes in their 3D Configurator which I tried out and I have to say, it’s very impressive.

Price

If you have hundreds of thousands of dollars you can afford to buy shoes from the top brands, and you probably don’t care so much about saving space when you’re traveling but, for people like us, the price matters a lot. Thus, the question is, what do you get for your money?

The minimum price for a sole is $55 and the same for a skin, that’s $110 for a pair of shoes. If you want to buy just one that makes it pretty useless because you can’t combine the skins and access the full potential of this footwear concept. But, the more soles and skins you buy, the better the overall price for one pair of shoes will get.

You can get for as low as $190 two soles and two skins, that’s four pairs of shoes, or for the same price, one sole and three skins that will give you three pairs of shoes. That would be an overall cost of $50 a pair and, considering that you can’t even find a quality leather pair of shoes at that price, I think it’s pretty good.

Conclusion

If you’re somebody that’s traveling a lot, somebody that lacks storage space or just a person that likes to combine their shoes ACBC is perfect for you. They are easy to store, ultra light, fashionable and at an accessible price point. All I am wondering right now is, how many pairs of skins and soles could you fit in a single regular backpack? Twenty? Thirty? All of them? You can fit a huge number of shoes, that’s for sure.

Just imagine the possibilities of these shoes and what you could do with this new technology. I’m curious to see how much the shoe tech will evolve in the following years.
