This is something not everyone can simply build in their garage workshop but it is nonetheless wonderful open source engineering. The site has all the details to assemble a prosthetic knee and ankle system using actuators. Unfortunately it looks like the site's forum is temporarily down so communicating with others following this project is impossible.
